The regulations and grading of furnished accommodation for tourism

Conditions:

Furnished accommodation for tourism comprises furnished villas, apartments or studio flats, offered for rent to a temporary customer, for daily, weekly or monthly rent, but without taking up residence.
Furnished accommodation for tourism must respect minimum conditions of habitability and comfort. They must be free from specific permanent odours and be located outside noise pollution zones arising from listed installations, roads with heavy traffic, railway tracks or airports, for example.

Categories:

There are 5 categories defined in terms of comfort graded from 1 to 5 *.
Method of grading: To obtain the listing of a premise, its lessor or representative, hand a set declaration form into the geographically relevant town hall.  
Grading decisions are taken by the Prefect after consultation with the departmental committee for tourist activity.

Visitor's tax:

Why is there visitor's tax?
The product of this tax is applied to spending used to promote tourist activity. In the Brest Métropole area, this sum is handed to the Community Tourist Office to allow it manage its projects.

Who is liable ?
Any visitor, non resident in Brest Métrople (therefore not liable for residential tax) spending a minimum of one night in commercial accommodation for professional or pleasure purposes.

What is the visitor's tax in Brest Métropole Océane?
The Community Council decided by debate on the 30th April 2004 to impose a visitor's tax effective from July 2004 in the entire community district.

What rates for 2009?
The rate of tax remains unchanged in relation to 2008 amounting to between €0.20 and €1 depending on the current legal bracket and the category of accommodation. (See the letting accommodation manual for rates)

Calculate the tax due:
Amount of tax (per person per night) = rate applied (see above) X number of nights

 

State aids

The Conseil Général (Département council) and the Conseil Régional (Regional council) offer financial aid to assist in the creation of your project in the tourist industry sector.

Aid from the Finistère Conseil Général attributed to:

-Public facilities for tourism

-Tourist accommodation in rural areas

-Facilities for hotels, campsites and holiday villages

-Holiday or reception centres for school trips

-Tourist signposting

-Improvement of tourist welcome

Aid from the Conseil Régional attributed to:

-The setting up, modernization and promotion of tourist accommodation.

- Leisure facilities, etc.
