½ day programme: guided tour of the city of Brest and its naval base*

The city centre, particularly the well-known Rue de Siam and Recouvrance bridge (2nd highest lifting bridge in Europe).

Exploring the naval base, 2nd military port of France, evoking recollections of the French Royal Navy. Passing in front of the Tanguy tower, (museum telling the history of Brest from the end of the 15th century to 1939), and the Gallo-Roman foundation castle, fortified by Vauban in the 17th century.

Guided tour of the Brest National Botanical Conservatory (2nd in Europe)

More than 1,000 plant species in danger of extinction are conserved in the centre of a 22 ha garden and inside greenhouses in which their climate has been faithfully reproduced.

*Tour of a warship, depending on availability. Proof of French identity (current identity card or passport) necessary for every adult participant.
