Guided tour of the Fine-Arts Museum in Brest

A first museum was created in 1877, but the air raids of 1941 completely destroyed it and a large part of its works. The present museum opened its doors 1968 and in 1974, an exhibition from the Louvre museum entitled "The rebirth of the Brest museum" highlighted the riches and originality of the new collection.

Today, nearly 300 works offer a perspective on European painting from the end of the 16th century to the middle of the 20th. Brittany was one of the favourite destinations for travelling artists. Guided tour of the collections devoted to: representations, many marines related to the maritime vocation of Brest and three movements incarnated by Symbolism, the school of Pont-Aven and Nabis.
