There are few traces of Brest's past. Many of the old buildings, testimonies of the past, have gone. Fortunately, the capital and Tanguy Tower rode out the storms. As you wander among the remaining souvenirs, learn of Brest’s history through the centuries.

•                        Through history

Work of Tanguy du Chatel, the Tanguy Tower, after changing hands several times, returned to the King of France in 1786. Sold as national property during the revolution, it was transformed into a residence, before burning in 1994. On 15 July 1954, it became part of the city's heritage buildings.
