Exhibition: Simone Boisecq, Karl-Jean Longuet
Why experience this event?
Five sculptures by Simone Boisecq (1922-2012) and Karl-Jean Longuet (1904-1981) are brought together for the first time to mark the official reception of three works by the artist couple at the museum.
Among them, Cœur Breton and Dolmen, Mausolée de voyage IV, were donated to the museum by Anne and Frédérique Longuet-Marx, to whom the museum wishes to express its gratitude.
This creative duo had a particular attachment to Brittany, often a source of inspiration, as evidenced by the dialogue proposed between the couple's works; an opportunity to recall their place in the context of artistic effervescence during the second half of the 20th century.
Involved in the renewal of French sculpture after the Second World War, the duo explores a common path between figuration and abstraction, while retaining their artistic singularity.
This reception of works is the subject of a temporary exhibition in the museum's rotunda on the second floor.
