Pointe du Diable

Facing the Crozon peninsula, you can see the Pointe du Diable, a view of the sea and wild landscapes.

This natural site is easily accessible via coastal paths and the GR 34 from Brest.

It's the ideal place to recharge your batteries and take a breath of fresh air!

Albert Louppe Bridge

2 bridges for a peninsula. There's the one you may have used to get to Brest, the Pont de l'Iroise, a magnificent cable-stayed bridge that doesn't go unnoticed.

And then there's the Albert Louppe bridge next door, designed for pedestrians and slow-moving vehicles.

From this bridge, you can admire the Elorn River that separates Le Relecq-Kerhuon and Plougastel Daoulas, and if you have the time, wait for the sun to set - you'll be rewarded!

Keramenez

The Kéramenez site offers a beautiful view of the Plougastel Daoulas peninsula and part of the Brest harbor. What's more, the viewpoint is one of the highest in the commune.

Kerdéniel lookout at the tip of Armorique

Pointe de Kerdéniel

The Kerdéniel lookout, located above a blockhouse, offers an exceptional panoramic view of the southern part of the Brest roadstead.

You can see the island of Bindy, the Crozon peninsula, Ménez-hom, Lanvéoc, Île ronde and the two "ducs d'Albe" built in 1941 by the TODT organization.

They were designed for mooring German battleships, and were intended to accommodate the Bismarck, which was sunk off the coast of Brest.

Memorial des Finistériens - Fort Montbarey

Memorial Montbarey

In 1984, the "Mémorial des Finistériens" association was founded on the site at the initiative of Charles Le Goasguen, a Free Frenchman and Companion of the Liberation.

The association does not seek to celebrate the war. Its vocation is to keep alive the memory of the 10,000 Finistériens who died for France, and of the Allied combatants who died during the conflict.

It contributes to a better understanding of the issues at stake in this major conflict of the 20th century.

The Portzic lighthouse with a pink sky

Sainte Anne du Portzic lighthouse

The closest lighthouse to the city of Brest, the Sainte Anne du Portzic lighthouse joined the Portzic military complex in 1848.

Today, its semaphore controls maritime traffic in the harbor since the transfer of the Minou lighthouse lookout to Le Portzic.

If you look closely at the lighthouse's octagonal tower, you'll see the bullet holes left by the battles it has seen.

Surfing at spot du petit Minou

Plage du petit Minou

Petit Minou beach is famous for its surf spot. It's the closest spot to the town and takes its name from the lighthouse overlooking the beach.

Access is fairly straightforward: you can launch either to the right (east side) or to the left (west side) of the lighthouse, but the east side is best reserved for experienced paddlers.

The western part is the most popular, as surf schools like to get their students out there. Note that the currents are quite strong, so be careful here, as well as on the baïnes at low tide.

Petit Minou lighthouse

Located in line with the Portzic lighthouse, the Petit Minou marks the entrance to the Brest roadstead. Standing 26 metres above land level, it reaches 34 metres above high tide.

Situated on military land, the lighthouse is unfortunately not open to the public.

It was automated in 1989!

Port de l'Auberlac'h

The port of Lauberlac'h was traditionally a fishing port, but it was also known as a loading port, since strawberries were shipped here for delivery to the people of Brest and the English.

If Brest doesn't seem very far away today, it was in the 18th century. Back then, there was no Albert Louppe bridge, and the peninsula was isolated for many years.

The main means of transport in those years was by boat, even to get to Brest itself!

The port of Le Tinduff was for a long time the busiest and most famous scallop-fishing port between the wars. If today this small fishing port is worth seeing, it's because the atmosphere that reigns there today is most peaceful.

The small pebble beach on the left inspires calm and serenity, where the whole family can recharge their batteries!
