Workshop - Galerie Ramine

A forager of port memories and observer of human prowess, Ramine is a contemplator of maritime civilizations.
From his readings, encounters and discoveries, the artist extracts the dreamlike substance necessary for his graphic creation.
The supports of nautical charts, newspapers and ancient manuscripts, and raw materials such as wreck wood, point the way to imaginary or distant worlds.

Under his rich, melodious palette, lighthouses, boats and sailors take on dynamic, improbable forms.
Illustrating the legend of the marine world, each painting can be seen as the frame of a comic strip yet to be written.

Despite this apparent fantasy, Ramine's universe is directly linked to the reality and daily life of the people of the sea. His ethnographic and historical collections feed his paintings.

Ramine lives and works in Brest, his home port, but it's not unusual to come across him on a quay in Bergen, Reykjavik or New York.
